Ecosystem Services Management

In its first two years of work, TeSE has worked on the creation and implementation of business guidelines for the economic and non-economic valuation of ecosystem services, with the aim that companies start to manage their vulnerabilities and impacts on natural capital, especially externalities.

The management of ecosystem services is relevant because natural capital is an external driver that can affect the achievement of the organization's objectives, causing negative (risk) or positive (opportunities) impacts. Therefore, these risks must be managed to protect and generate value for the company.

Realizing the difficulty of companies in using the valuation results to aid in decision-making, in the 2016 and 2017 cycles TeSE undertakes efforts to work on the theme of corporate management of ecosystem services with the initiative’s member companies.
